Organica Creativa, DirectToWeb MutationOne of the most rewarding experiences than I had about my work on 2006 was to work together with Ravi Mendis.
I received an email from Ravi. The first surprise was to read that the dominion of his email finished with apple.com! Ravi is a software developer, and works for the Apple Computers’ team.
The work consisted on the adaptation, design and development of an interface based on Organica Creativa for his DirectToWeb project, an Open Source product that uses Apple’s “Web site Objects” application to connect to Itunes, allowing users to change the application’s appearance trough xhtml and css.
Ravi sent me the xthml code, and I adapted the preexisting design to the new environment: the visualization changes and the experience for the user were immediate.

You can see here the new login screen modified through CCS and a capture sent by Ravi from his own Mac. The design was consistent and could survive the crossings of platforms and browsers, one of my golds in terms of usability and design.
But not only I took the project like an “adaptation”: in order to give it more solidity and forcefulness to the new Organica Creativa version, I also designed a main system of icons, for navigation on a first level, and two or three sets of secondary icons for all the interphase. The project gained character and seriousness that way and the design maintained its original freshness.
Finally, I took the liberty to design the identity and branding system for DirectToWeb based on Organica Creativa. The final result as a whole was more than successful.
